It’s Zahra’s 6th day in Mahkota Medical Centre today.
She’s admitted due to bronchitis. Nothing serious, though she’s been having the cough for more than a week then. Back at home, she was on ventolin for a week, with no sign of imrovement, at all.
So pead prescribed the usual routine of zithromax and prednisolone on top of the four hourly nebulizer and daily physio-suction. And she was sent for an xray and blood test, in that very first day. The xray result confirmed the bronchitis, and blood test result shown a high count of white blood cell.
Fifth day in MMC, though the wheezes imrove a bit, but the hard deep cough didn’t seem to go away. So we went for another blood test and they also did the nasal swab as Pead suspected that Zahra is having Pertussis. Pulak…
And the white blood count was still the same as the first test.
Yesterday they also started the ‘Cough Chart’, to record Zahra’s frequency of getting the cough.
Today we went for another X-ray. And it showed an increasing haziness. Paed took another blood sample today, and the white blood cell is also higher than yesterday.
Now, Zahra’s oral antibiotic has been switched to iv infusion.
Despite all the negative results from all the tests, Zahra is doing so much better today. Alhamdulillah.
Me on the other hand… Is going through tough time handling my own emotion. I just don’t know whether to be sad or happy. I just feel so alone.
